How Do Clear Aligners Work?

  1. Digital Scans and Impressions
Treatment begins with Dr. Ulku taking precise digital scans or impressions of your teeth, along with any necessary X-rays.
  2. Custom Treatment Plan
Using this data, a 3D digital plan maps out every movement of your teeth from start to finish.
  3. Aligner Fabrication
Your aligners are 3D-printed and delivered to our office. Depending on your case, treatment may involve 12 to 70 aligners.
  4. Optional Attachments
Small, tooth-colored composite bumps called attachments may be placed on certain teeth to improve aligner effectiveness. These are temporary and removed once treatment is complete.
  5. Wearing Aligners
Aligners are typically changed every two weeks, or weekly if using AcceleDent to accelerate results.

What Do Clear Aligners Look Like?

Clear aligners are virtually invisible when worn. Each aligner is custom-fitted to gradually move your teeth toward the desired position.

Clear Aligner Attachments

Attachments are small, tooth-colored composites placed on select teeth to guide movement more effectively. They are optional and removed at the end of treatment.

Will Clear Aligners Affect My Speech?

You may notice a slight change in speech during the first few days as your mouth adjusts. This is temporary. Since aligners are removable, you can take them out for special occasions if needed.

Wearing Clear Aligners

  • While Sleeping: Wear aligners 20–22 hours per day, including while sleeping, for best results.
  • While Eating: Remove aligners before eating or drinking anything besides water to prevent damage or staining.

Cleaning Your Teeth and Aligners

  • Brush and floss your teeth with aligners removed.
  • Clean aligners gently with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water to maintain clarity and freshness.

Cost of Clear Aligners

Treatment costs vary depending on complexity and duration, typically ranging from $5,000 to $7,000. Dental insurance with orthodontic benefits may significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs.

Clear Aligners for Teens
